hace 2 years

Our group of 26 keepers, educators, veterinarians, biologists, managers and trainees of Terra Natura Benidorm have been trained in animal welfare and training of wildlife, which is under human care.  The training course took place in the facilities of the nature park and was held over two days.

The training included nine teaching hours, covering a range of theoretical and practical knowledge on a variety of subjects. The course was given by the veterinary zootechnician, Ana Alejandra Arroyo. This veterinarian specialises in ethology and wildlife welfare and is the founder of Yolcati (veterinary consultancy in ethology and animal welfare).

The training dealt with issues related to animal welfare and training, the benefits of these practices, the use of resources, applications, objectives, exercises, as well as the application of the necessary resources. On the other hand, it has been deepened in the functioning of the animal training that must be followed in veterinary procedures.

In addition, practical techniques have been carried out with macaws, marmosets and the procedure has been specifically worked with the handling of felines. Thanks to this training, the team of keepers and veterinarians of Terra Natura Benidorm have been trained in basic aspects of animal training to initiate and enhance the implementation of comprehensive animal welfare programmes.
