How the goats and donkeys cool off at Terra Natura Benidorm

hace 2 years

The team of keepers have made ice creams with corn and frozen water so that these farm animals cool off the high summer temperatures.

Those ice creams made with cereals and frozen water are done for the group of goats and donkeys in these summer days. The keepers provide them with these tasty ice creams several times a week as environmental enrichment and to help them cool down and get through the hot days. The animals love it and welcome it as a game, interacting until the ice cream melts and they reach the fruit.

By providing these ice creams, two objectives are achieved. On the one hand, the goats and donkeys are refreshed in a natural way with a healthy dessert, and on the other hand, it serves as an environmental enrichment activity to entertain these animals, which live in the area of the Europa farm. Through the enrichment activities, the animals’ senses are stimulated and activated, enhancing their wellbeing.

Terra Natura Benidorm currently has a group of six goats, three males and three females, and five donkeys. On this occasion, the zoo keepers have extended the supply of fruit and vegetable ice creams by offering them to the farm animals, in addition to the other species that receive them at this time of year, such as elephants, primates, otters and rhinoceroses.
