More than 200 people have participated in the ecological restoration of Mount Orgegia, which has been promoted by Terra Natura Benidorm and Alicante Renace. The environmental initiative, which took place last Saturday, has brought together partners and friends of Terra Natura Benidorm in this natural area in order to plant 200 trees and 25,000 native seeds to recover the trees and vegetation in the area.

During the event, the general manager of Terra Natura Benidorm, Luis Perea, received the renaturation certificate from the director of the Alicante Renace project, Daniel Aguilar.

The meeting was also attended by the general director of Natural and Animal Environment of the Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory of the Generalitat, Raúl Mérida; the deputy of Les Corts, Mario Villar; the councillor for Environment of the City Council of Alicante, Manuel Villar; as well as the director of Marketing and Sales, Javier Zapata, among others.

The aim of this restoration project is to improve the balance of the Orgegia ecosystem, providing new trees and reinforcing the vegetation cover to prevent soil erosion. In total, work has been carried out on the restoration of an area of 10,000 square metres.

The ecological restoration project has allowed participants to take part in this environmental education, ecological restoration and awareness-raising programme. They have also taken part in an interpretative route aimed at raising awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and encouraging a greater commitment to the protection of natural ecosystems through knowledge of the local flora and fauna.

The route was given by experts in ecology and environmental conservation. During the tour, explanations were given about the local flora and fauna and the conservation actions that have been applied in this natural area.
