Our veterinarians and zoo keepers reinforce their training in an ambitious behavioural management and animal welfare programme

hace 6 months

Our team of vets and zoo keepers  are currently attending a new training programme in behavioural management and animal welfare to reinforce their knowledge of animal care. During the training, they have been taught key aspects related to the care and treatment of birds, rhinos, elephants, gibbons, tigers, clouded panthers or macaws among other animals that inhabit the park.

Participation in these animal welfare and behavioural management programmes is essential, as the relationship established between the animals and the keepers is very strong. The implementation of these programmes affects the safety protocols between people and animals.

The training programmes also improve the quality of life of the animals and the efficiency of the work carried out by the people who care for them. The training provided by the Yolcati Consultancy is aimed at improving the welfare of the animals at Terra Natura Benidorm. The training that is taught is carried out through positive reinforcement.

Amongst the responsibilities of the vets and keepers is to ensure the veterinary care of the animal. To this end, the animal is specifically trained to participate voluntarily in routine veterinary procedures or any possible intervention that may be necessary to ensure its welfare and hygienic and sanitary condition. On this occasion, the course was given by the zootechnical veterinary doctor, Ana Alejandra Arroyo. This veterinarian specialises in ethology and wildlife welfare and is the founder of Yolcati (veterinary consultancy in ethology and animal welfare).
