San Blas school celebrates the Day of Women and Girls in Science with the help of Terra Natura Benidorm

hace 10 months

Two biologists from Terra Natura Benidorm went yesterday to join in this initiative promoted by the school along with other scientists.

The educator Saray Rubio and biologist Elisa Gozalbes played educational games about animals and took biological material to the 2nd year infant groups who were working on this subject as part of the school year.

Rubio and Gozalbes played a game to classify animals according to their fur and other morphological characteristics. They also developed another game aimed at identifying the skull of different species of animals according to their anatomy, such as their teeth, beak or horns. An explanatory talk on sustainability and the conservation of the environment and biodiversity was also given to the students.

The initiative brought together different women, in addition to the biologists of Terra Natura Benidorm, who have scientific professions such as doctors, engineers, pharmacists, chemists, among others. These women came to the school to share with the students curiosities about their jobs and to show them what they do.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of promoting access and equal participation of girls and women in science.
