Six Baby Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnakes Born at Terra Natura Benidorm

hace 1 month

This species is mainly found in the temperate climates of southern U.S. states, especially Florida. While their conservation status is not considered critical, habitat loss is a real threat, making it important to monitor their populations and promote their conservation, including breeding them in controlled environments.

With the birth of these six baby rattlesnakes, we continue to strengthen our commitment to protecting exotic species and supporting scientific research. We’re also excited to offer visitors a chance to get a close-up look at one of the most unique snakes in the Americas.

“The birth of these six baby rattlesnakes is fantastic news for both conservation and scientific research,” says David Martí, our herpetologist at Terra Natura Benidorm. “This species has unique traits, and its venom has great potential for medical use. By caring for and breeding them in controlled conditions, we ensure their wellbeing while also collaborating on research projects that could lead to real-world medical breakthroughs.”
