Terra Natura Benidorm celebrates World Environmental Education Day with special awareness and outreach activities
hace 2 monthsThe Education Department at Terra Natura Benidorm has made a special programme to mark World Environmental Education Day, celebrated on 26th January, with the aim of promoting environmental knowledge, awareness and commitment among park visitors and the educational community.
Most of the activities will take place on 24th and 25th January and are designed to be accessible to all audiences. Throughout both days, visitors will be invited to take part in a wetland species identification activity, an engaging educational initiative that introduces the biodiversity of these ecosystems in a clear and interactive way. This action forms part of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) Conservation Campaign 2026–2027, entitled ‘Wetlands for Life’, which seeks to raise awareness of one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet.
In addition, on the afternoons of 24th and 25th January, the park will host a Meet the Environmental Educator session, accompanied by an educational workshop in the Asia area. These activities will offer visitors the opportunity to explore the importance of environmental education as a key tool for fostering respect for nature and encouraging environmental conservation.
To mark this international day, the Terra Natura Benidorm team is also producing a commemorative video, developed collaboratively with the involvement of several park departments, including gardening, birds of prey and education. This initiative aims to highlight the collective effort undertaken to support environmental education and raise public awareness.
As part of these actions, Terra Natura Benidorm will also donate biological materials such as antlers, eggs, feathers and other natural elements to IES Mar Serena secondary school in Pulpà (AlmerÃa). These resources will be used for educational purposes by the Natural Sciences department, further strengthening the link between formal education and environmental outreach.
Through this special programme, Terra Natura Benidorm reaffirms its commitment to environmental education as a fundamental pillar for the conservation of the natural environment and the development of a more informed, aware and environmentally responsible society.
