The therapeutic project with sea lions starts at Aqua Natura Benidorm. Thanks to this, you can enjoy this therapy, based on the benefits of close contact with animals, so that people with motor, mental or emotional disabilities benefit from a direct relationship with these marine mammals.

The therapies with animals favour the development of empathy and reinforce the confidence of the participants. The therapeutic sessions are developed with a group of three California sea lions, named Lucy, Joe and Tino and the therapy is carried out through the concept of play to promote interaction with these mammals in a natural way and using the aquatic environment as a fundamental element that provides fluidity.

This therapy contributes to the stimulation of psychotherapeutic treatments, as the interaction with animals reinforces and promotes the cognitive, emotional and social development of the users. Each session is supervised by a team of a therapeutic assistant and a specialist sea lion keeper.

The effectiveness of this activity is proven in the treatment of people with stroke, burnout syndrome, dementia, depression, stress and stress disorders, phobias, fears, coercion, self-esteem problems, conflicts, separation, sadness, mental and emotional disabilities, learning psychomotor development disorders, victims of abuse and violence, perception and language disorders, behaviour problems, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism, among others.

The therapeutic project with these mammals began its journey in 2019 at the Aqua Natura Benidorm water park, reaping excellent results and unforgettable experiences for the participants.
