The dentist visits one of our donkeys to check its mouth
hace 5 yearsThe veterinarian Sergio Soler has visited Nube to check its teeth and help with the oral problem.
Nube, a donkey that has been living in Terra Natura Benidorm for 15 years, has received the visit of the dentist; this 22-year-old female was having problems to eat for a few days so once detecting this situation, the veterinarians made a complete revision to its mouth. Keepers have adapted the diet to favour the intake of food because it is essential for its survival.
Despite these measures, Nube was still having difficulties to eat, so the veterinarian team made the decision to call Sergio Soler, dentist specialised in equine animals such as horses and donkeys. For the oral revision it has been necessary to carry out a slight sedation to the donkey so the veterinarian could work safely and Nube did not suffer any type of stress due to this procedure.
Through this review, experts could detect what was causing discomfort to the animal so once the oral problem was located, it has been applied the indicated treatment to ensure that the donkey recovers its normal activity and can return to eat food without any inconvenience. At present, there are a group of six donkeys. Among the most frequent oral problems suffered by horses and donkeys are broken teeth and spike injuries, which happens when the piece wears away and rub with the gum. In the case of broken teeth, the piece that has become loose is removed and the animal recovers in a few days.
