Together with Alicante Renace we promote the ecological restoration of Orgegia´s vegetation.
hace 7 monthsTogether with the Asociación Enamorados de Alicante we have signed this morning a collaboration agreement to launch the environmental initiative.
In the project, 200 trees will be planted and 25,000 seeds will be spread to protect our soils from erosion and enhance biodiversity.
We joined the project: Alicante Renace, to implement a day of ecological restoration, whose main objective is to reforest the Orgegia mountain, located in the city of Alicante. To carry out the environmental initiative, the collaboration agreement was signed this morning at Terra Natura Benidorm.
The signing ceremony was attended by the general manager of Terra Natura Benidorm, Luis Perea, and the conservationist and director of the project, Alicante Renace, Daniel Aguilar. As was announced during the meeting, the ecological restoration day will take place on Saturday 20th April and will be organised for collaborators and friends of Terra Natura Benidorm, subject to prior registration.
The general manager of Terra Natura Benidorm has highlighted “the importance of promoting this type of environmental actions that allow us to recover values of environmental awareness and highlight the natural areas through this action of environmental volunteering, in which our colleagues and collaborators will also participate and contribute their help to reforest the Orgegia mountain”.
It is planned that 200 trees and 25,000 native seeds will be planted to recover the trees in the area and establish an optimal vegetation cover to protect the soil from erosion, favouring the balance of the ecosystem. Work will also be carried out in an area of 10,000 square metres.
For his part, the director of Alicante Renace said this morning that “Alicante Renace has become, after 10 years of working together with Alicante City Council, the main green engine of the city of Alicante, restoring degraded natural areas, improving their environmental quality and promoting and creating new ecosystems that are home to a diversity of native flora and fauna. This work contributes to establishing natural spaces with high ecological value, improving air quality and mitigating the effects of climate change”.
The ecological restoration project will allow participants to take part in this environmental education, ecological restoration and awareness-raising programme. They will also take part in an interpretative route which aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and encourage a greater commitment to the protection of natural ecosystems through knowledge of the local flora and fauna. It will be given by experts in ecology and environmental conservation. In addition, during the interpretative route, explanations will be given about the local flora and fauna and the conservation actions that have been applied in this natural area.
