Our team of zoo keepers make ice lollies for the animals.

Summer has also arrived at Terra Natura Benidorm and has brought with it high temperatures that require our team of zoo keepers to take action. As every year, in order to help the animals cope with the heat, the zoo keepers make ice lollies with different fruits and adapted to the needs of each species.

This morning they gave these refreshing snacks to the saimiri, goeldi’s marmosets, toucans, macaws and jaguars. The ice lollies are made from crushed fruit such as banana, watermelon, pineapple, apple, pear and grape.

In the same way that they act as a delicious and natural snack for the animals in the park, they also help to achieve another essential objective. They act as an entertainment activity for the animals. They also stimulate the animals’ senses and increase their quality of life, working as environmental enrichment.
