We get ready for the Holi Festival with 200 kilos of powder and 5,000 bottles of colours
hace 6 yearsBollywood dances and the colours of India will cover Terra Natura Benidorm during the Holi Hindu festival, which will take place this Saturday, August 18th at 11.00 am. In this edition, more than 200 kilos of pigmented powders and more than 5,000 bottles with coloured water have been prepared to commemorate the 46th birthday of the Elephant Petita. This elephant was rejected by her herd to be considered ugly according to the canons of beauty established in their species and today symbolizes the improvement and friendship without barriers.
The festive day will start at the entrance of the park in the Pangea area, where the welcome dances will be held by the dancers of the Bollywood Dance School Omkara Dance in Alicante, who will be accompanied by the group Merakimera percussion. Meanwhile the welcome bindi or tilak on the forehead will be put to the visitors. This red dot is placed on the forehead both men and women, at the height of the sixth chakra symbolizing wisdom in Hindu culture.
After the birds of prey exhibition, the Indian delegation will go to Petita’s facilities to give her an offering which consist in fruits and vegetables specially prepared for Petita and also for her best friend Kaiso that will be waiting with her. Both animals will be decorated with colourful paintings made by their zookeepers. After singing the traditional song of ‘happy birthday’ visitors will have to go to Napastepur to get ready for the battle of colours.
In addition, Aqua Natura will also continue the fun and entertainment with other activities such as a Hindu musical parade, Hindu Aqua Dance session and a colourful foam party.
