We launch a new experience to find out about reptiles better
hace 3 yearsOur team of herpetologists has designed a new experience to bring the public closer the knowledge about various species of reptiles and arthropods, breaking down some myths that exist about these animals. In an interactive and playful way, the park’s herpetologists will show the curiosities of some species and will teach visitors how to act if they find a reptile in nature.
Within the experience, called ‘Discovery reptiles’, the bullfrog will be shown, which is considered one of the largest frogs in the world weighing over one kilo. Tarantulas and other spiders, albino pythons, double-crested basilisks, among other species, will be part of this initiative.
The interaction with the animals will be essential in this activity that comes to complement the outreach and entertainment programme of the park. Thus, visitors will be able to see from a unique and very close perspective how a panther chameleon feeds on small insects like larvae, grasshoppers and crickets. In this way, they will also be able to feed small pink-tongued lizards.
You will also learn how to distinguish a false coral snake from a real one, through the colour patterns and the type of scales in their skin. The herpetologists will show biological elements such as fangs of Gabonese vipers (which are the largest among snakes), red knee tarantula moults, crocodile eggs, as well as antidotes that Terra Natura Benidorm has in its facilities.
This new experience tries to raise awareness about the problems of conservation and care that these animals need to keep their populations in the wild. Through this experience, you will also learn about the usefulness of bioluminescence in certain species such as scorpions.
