hace 8 monthsAqua Natura Benidorm will once again play host to the National Meeting of Mermaids and Mermen, celebrating its fifth edition in 2025. Over the course of the weekend from 4th to 6th July, our water park will welcome sports clubs and professional mermaids from across Spain and abroad to showcase this unique discipline, which blends physical activity, artistic expression, and a deep connection with the aquatic environment.
This one-of-a-kind event on the national stage also aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, promoting values of sustainability and respect for biodiversity. Over three days, Aqua Natura Benidorm will be filled with performances, workshops, family-friendly activities and entertaining experiences centred around the enchanting world of mermaiding. The event has become a key meeting point for the professionalisation of the discipline, attracting an increasing number of participants who practise it with a professional, artistic and environmentally conscious focus.
Confirmed international participants include renowned names such as Mermaid Andrea (Germany), Mermaid Damon (Switzerland), the Geneva Mermaids team with Tanidia, Maryne, Galliea, Lucio, and Alison Olimpia Mermaid, as well as the I am Braveer Team from China, featuring Zheng, LinYE, Xia yu Er and Meizi. As Luis Perea, Managing director of Terra Natura Benidorm, explained: “This gathering marks the fifth year we’ve hosted it at Aqua Natura Benidorm, and each year we strive to establish it as a landmark event for mermaiding professionals, not only within Spain but internationally as well. This year, we’re proud to welcome participants from countries such as China, Germany, and Colombia. Since the beginning, we have championed the professionalisation of this discipline, highlighting its artistic, sporting and educational dimensions. It’s a real honour for Aqua Natura Benidorm to offer a unique space in Spain where mermaids and mermen can come together, share experiences, learn, and display their talents in a truly idyllic setting.”
Event founder Vicky Gorena also commented: “This fifth edition of the National Meeting of Mermaids and Mermen is the most extensive we’ve organised to date, with a five-day programme. For the first time, we’ve succeeded in expanding international participation, which marks an important step forward for the development of mermaiding in Spain. Our goal is to offer role models to inspire both those already practising the discipline and those looking to start, and to provide spaces where they can train, grow, and feel part of this community connected to the marine world.”
The 5th National Meeting of Mermaids and Mermen reaffirms Aqua Natura Benidorm as a leading venue for mermaiding in Spain, combining mindful leisure with environmental education through innovative experiences.
