Advocating responsible pet ownership on the celebration of Saint Anthony
hace 4 weeksAt Terra Natura Benidorm, we join in the celebration of Saint Anthony, patron saint of animals, held every 17 January, by placing the spotlight on raising awareness of the importance of pet welfare—particularly the responsible care of the species that are part of millions of households.
From the Education and Animal Welfare Department, we emphasise that animals’ quality of life goes far beyond meeting basic needs such as food. Rather, it involves ensuring proper veterinary care, a balanced diet, a suitable environment, daily exercise, mental stimulation and, above all, respectful and responsible treatment throughout the animal’s entire life.
“Pets are not objects; they are another member of the family. Caring for them properly is a responsibility assumed from the very first moment and one that must be upheld throughout their lives,” state the Animal Welfare team at Terra Natura Benidorm, underlining the importance of responsible ownership in preventing situations of abandonment or mistreatment.
In this regard, we highlight the value of education from an early age as a key tool for fostering empathy towards animals and promoting coexistence based on respect. Through our daily work, Terra Natura Benidorm operates under strict animal welfare protocols and develops educational and outreach initiatives aimed at raising public awareness of animal protection and care, both in professional environments and within the domestic sphere.
In this way, we take advantage on the celebration of Saint Anthony as an opportunity to invite society to reflect on the bond between people and animals, and to remind everyone that animals’ wellbeing depends, to a large extent, on the commitment and responsibility of those who care for them.
