We give a warm welcome to three new birds to join the birds of prey demonstration

hace 3 months

At Terra Natura Benidorm we have welcome three new specimens for the educational raptor flight demonstration. Specifically, a female saker falcon (Falco cherrug), a female black kite (Milvus migrans) and a male black-headed cowbird (Pionites melanocephalus) have arrived at our park.

With these new additions, the aim is to increase the diversity of birds that are part of this didactic raptor flight demonstration so visitors can watch them and get to know the characteristics of these new bird species at close quarters. Thanks to this type of demonstration, knowledge about these birds is promoted and visitors are aware of their conservation and protection and the important role that these birds play in biodiversity as a whole.

The Saker falcon, called Pokalu, is just over a year old. Being so young, it has a very dynamic and particular flight. In addition, it has been trained in very windy conditions, which makes its flying powerful when she finds gusts of air.

In the case of Gaia, the female black kite, she joins the group of the species that has been living in Terra Natura Benidorm for some years now. Gaia is about to turn two years old and has adapted very well to the group, as kites are very social birds that tend to make large groups, especially during migration.

On the other hand, there is Ron, the male black-headed kite, who is not yet a year old. At the moment, he lives together with a sun parrot and a you-you, both belonging to the parrot family.
